The Akhila Malankara Orthodox Shusrushaka Sangham (AMOSS) is the official spiritual organization of the Indian Orthodox Church dedicated to the formation, guidance, and strengthening of Acolytes (Altar Servers) in parish communities across the Church.
AMOSS exists to nurture altar servers who faithfully assist the clergy at the Holy Altar with reverence, discipline, devotion, and a deep understanding of the Orthodox faith and liturgical tradition.
Rooted in the rich spiritual heritage of the Orthodox Church, AMOSS seeks to shape young men into committed servants of Christ through worship, spiritual formation, and active participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
Our Mission
To spiritually guide and equip altar servers to serve the Church with humility, discipline, unity, and dedication while preserving the sacred traditions and liturgical beauty of Orthodox worship.
Through AMOSS, acolytes are guided to the following:
*Understand the Holy Sacraments and sacred traditions of the Church
*Serve reverently during Holy Qurbana and all liturgical services
*Develop discipline, responsibility, and uniformity in worship
*Grow in Orthodox spirituality, prayer, and Christian values
*Build fellowship and leadership through service to the church.
Parish AMOSS Activities
Under the spiritual leadership of the Diocesan Metropolitan, AMOSS Vice-President (Priest), and respective vicars, parish units actively organize the following:
*Liturgical and practical training sessions for altar servers
*Workshops on Orthodox faith, worship, and spirituality
*Guidance on the responsibilities and conduct of acolytes
*Spiritual retreats, fellowship gatherings, and mentoring programs
*Opportunities for personal and spiritual growth through service
AMOSS is not merely an organization for altar service; it is a ministry dedicated to forming spiritually enriched, disciplined, and faithful servants committed to the life and mission of the Indian Orthodox Church.
